Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your locations?
    You can choose from two locations: Gili Air or Gili Trawangan. The Gili Air cooking class is located close to the harbour, opposite Ocaens 5 Dive Centre. The Gili Trawangan cooking class is located to the north end of the main strip, on the east coast. It is next to the popular Trawangan Dive Centre. Both locations can be easily found using Google Maps.
  • When are the classes being held?
    We run classes every day at 11:30 am, 4:00 pm, and 7:30 pm.
  • How long does the class take?
    It ranges from 1 to 2,5 hours depending on which menu you are doing. For exact timings, please review our menu information here.
  • How many people are in one class?
    We can accommodate up to 10 people per class. This varies for every class, but on average there are 6-8 people per class. The minimum is one person, and the maximum is ten persons. With larger groups, you will cook in pairs.
  • I'm staying in Gili Meno. How do I take part in your classes?
    We have two locations: Gili Air and Gili Trawangan Gili Air It is easy to join in with the 11:30 am class, and a great way to visit another island at the same time! Take the public boat at 9:45 am leaving from Gili Meno (Rp 35.000 one way) which will take 15 minutes. Once you arrive, you can find us close to the harbour. To go back to Gili Meno, you take the public boat that leaves at 3:00 pm. Gili Trawangan
  • How do I book a cooking class?
    Click the "Book now" button in the right upper corner. Walk through all the steps. Once the form has been submitted, we will send you a confirmation with a payment request. Once the payment is finalised, you have booked yourself the best cooking class in the Gilis! If you have any problems with a booking, don't hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help you with a booking!
  • Can I pay by credit card when I arrive?
    No, payments must be paid in cash for walk-in guests.
  • Can I modify my booking?
    Yes. You can change your time and/or date for free 48 hours or more in advance of your original booking date. Send us a message to modify your booking.
  • What are the cancellation policies?
    Less than 24 hours before the class, the payment is non-refundable Between 24 - 48 hours, we will refund 50% of your payment More than 48 hours, we will refund 100% of your payment
  • What are the prices for a class/how much does it cost?
    It depends on which menu you pick. The Intro course Rp 350.000 | €21 | $23 Four of a kind Rp 400.000 | €24 | $26 The Super Six Rp 450.000 | €27 | $29 Prices in euros and us dollars are an average, it depends on the exchange rate.
  • Do we get to eat the food we cook?
    OF COURSE! You’ll get to enjoy everything you and your friends prepare. Make sure you have an empty stomach when you arrive, as we can guarantee you will be full filled with all the deliciousness you cooked.
  • Is it family friendly?
    The cooking classes are great fun for all ages, and that includes children. It’s a memorable family experience where the kids can learn and have fun in a safe environment. And they love to eat what they’ve made afterwards. The recommended minimum age is 8 years old, but we have had younger kids join in too. Please not that kids younger than 5 years can't cook. It's your own responsibility to take care of your kid.
  • Will I receive the recipes?
    Yes! Once you have completed the cooking class, you can log into our website. On your profile, you will find all the recipes to recreate those tasty Indonesian dishes at home.
  • What is included in the class?
    Classes include cooking, eating, drinking water, and recipes online
  • Do I cook alone or with others?
    You will cook in pairs. Please keep in mind that when the classes are full and you are alone, you can be paired up with a someone you don't know.
  • Are there vegetarian and vegan options?
    Yes, we got you covered! Each dish is easily made as vegetarian or vegan upon request by replacing meat with tofu and tempeh. Let us know beforehand in your booking.
  • How spicy is the food? I can't handle spicy food.
    You are the chef, so you are fully in control of the level of spiciness. Add as many chilies as you like.
